The Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association (CPAAA) is a police department sanctioned organization that works with the Community Resource Officer to support community programs like Blue Santa, National Night Out, Safety Events, and many other programs. They are often the first responders to assists when needed in any emergency.  Many CPAAA members volunteer to work in jobs internal to the police department.

All volunteer groups wear special attire that defines their volunteer group.  They are recruited through our VIPS Program.  Volunteer hours are reported monthly through our VIPS Volunteer Coordinator.

Communications Division

The Communications Division is comprised of Communications Team Leaders and Communications Operators. The communications operators (dispatchers) are divided into four (4) teams and work twelve-hour shifts. They are the first contact of all 911 calls made from within the city limits of Georgetown. They are responsible for all radio communications for both the Police and Fire Departments and dispatch all priority and non-priority calls for service to the respective departments. Other services they perform are after-hours emergency or non-emergency calls for service for Georgetown Utilities, Animal Control, Municipal Court and Parks and Recreation. They also assist with coordinating EMS calls through Williamson County Sheriff’s Department.

Community Resource Team

crtThe Community Resource Team was implemented to create a formal proactive crime prevention element for the department. They are tasked with conducting business and home security inspections, providing written reports of recommendations for crime prevention strategies, and conduct public education city-wide on a variety of other crime prevention related issues. The Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association (CPAAA) serves as an extension to this team by providing volunteer support for all programs and assisting with CPA classes.
