The Community Engagement Team was implemented to create a formal proactive crime prevention element for the department. They are tasked with conducting business and home security inspections, providing written reports of recommendations for crime prevention strategies, and conducting public education city-wide on a variety of other crime prevention-related issues. They offer programs to our citizens, such as Stranger Danger, Neighborhood Watch, National Night Out, Blue Santa, Citizens Police Academy, Operation Safechild, Park Rangers, and Law Enforcement Field Day. The Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (CPAAA) serves as an extension to this team by providing volunteer support for all programs and assisting with CPA classes.
