The Georgetown Police Department is hosting its sixth annual Junior Police Academy this summer. The JPA is a camp designed to strengthen the connection between law enforcement and local youth ages 8-12, giving them a chance to see what it’s like to become a cadet police officer over their summer vacation.
The free camp, geared toward Georgetown students, is modeled after the police academies that adults attend to become sworn peace officers.
Camps are Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Camp sessions are:
- June 8-11 (ages 8-10)
- June 15-18 (ages 10-12)
- June 29-July 2 (ages 8-10)
- July 13-16 (ages 10-12)
- July 20-23 (ages 10-12)
- July 27-July 30 (ages 8-10)
There will be a one-day registration scheduled for March 28 at the Georgetown Police Department located at 3500 DB Wood Road from 9 a.m. to noon. There are only 35 slots available for each camp. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
