Georgetown Police Department
PD Overview
The Georgetown Police Department began in 1948 when the City Council established the positions of Chief of Police and two patrolmen. The first patrol vehicle was purchased in that year. Up until that period of time, a City Marshal answered all calls for police protection. The number of police officers now totals 78, and they are supported by 26 support personnel, 8 animal services personnel and numerous volunteers.
